Master of Public Administration
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree provides professional education for students interested in public service careers. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), the interdisciplinary program is designed to stress the knowledge, skills, values, and behaviors essential to the successful public servant. Some flexibility in curriculum is permitted to meet the diverse educational needs of pre-service and in-career students, changing-career students, and students in different career specialties in public administration. The curriculum components are designed to produce professionals capable of intelligent and creative analysis, communication, and action in the public sector context.

MPA at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA)
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree at USASMA in Fort Bliss, Texas offers a unique opportunity for Sergeants Major Academy students to complete this degree onsite. The program is offered in a 10-month period with hybrid courses offered in 8-week semesters beginning in August and ending in May.
The USASMA cohort was established in 2015 and since its inception has been taught by tenure and tenure-track faculty with impressive research agendas and expertise in the areas of public policy and public administration. We have graduated more than 50 students from USASMA that proudly represent UTEP’s MPA graduates nationwide and abroad.
Our faculty and support staff are highly committed to students’ success and thus office hours and special programming is offered onsite to better serve the demanding schedules of this community.
