Course Overview
Our goal is to give you the necessary knowledge and skills to express yourself effectively, think creatively and solve problems. However, in order to get the most out of the online multidisciplinary studies degree, you must define:
- The overarching interdisciplinary theme of your studies
- The problems you seek to solve with your BMS degree
- The specialized learning opportunities and resulting perceptions not currently available through other degree programs
Once you have your plan, your advisor will work with you to determine your areas of concentration and appropriate coursework.
Degree Requirements
Students in the multidisciplinary studies degree program take a full complement of required courses in English, mathematics, literature, social science, science, the arts, history, economics and other core subjects that provide a broad general education foundation. Click here to see the core curriculum.
The multidisciplinary studies degree program requires a minimum of 120 credits, some of which may be transferred from previous university experience.
Concentrations & Electives
With the BMS program, 45 credits toward your degree will be earned through three concentrations, with 15 credits of coursework for each. The goal of the concentrations is to give you an interdisciplinary foundation that satisfies your pre-defined educational goals while maintaining academic rigor and integrity. Your advisor will assist you in selecting your concentrations.
The rest of your curriculum will be composed of 33 credits of electives, including 18 credits of upper-division (junior and senior) level studies.
In addition to completing organized courses, you will also be required to submit a final paper or project completed in an upper-level class during your final year of study to a BMS advisor.
