This speakers series is free and open to all who are curious about a career in museums and museum-adjacent fields regardless of background, major/minor or work experience. The series is made possible through generous support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. 

 

 

Christian “Chris” Guerra (She/Her/Ella) is an accomplished arts and cultural leader, currently serving as the Traveling Exhibition lead at Art Bridges Foundation. In this role, she drives the coordination and execution of over 25 traveling exhibitions, reaching more than 100 museums and communities nationwide. Her work at Art Bridges is grounded in a commitment to expanding access to American art, promoting cultural equity, and fostering personal and community well-being through art. With more than a decade of experience in project management, arts administration, and equity advocacy, Chris has consistently demonstrated her ability to manage complex projects and cultivate meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders. Her expertise in public and contemporary art, combined with her passion for cultural inclusivity, informs her approach to every project she leads.

Chris holds a master's degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons University, specializing in managing archives and cultural institutions, and is a proud graduate of ÀÇÓÑÊÓƵ, where she was recognized as a Fellow and Scholar by the Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence. She is a prestigious inclusion in notable arts and cultural organizations, including the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC), Americans for the Arts (AFTA), and one of the founding members of Public Art Exchange (PAX), where she has been honored for her contributions and leadership.

As Principal of CBG Arts + Culture, Chris spearheaded numerous projects in the Los Angeles area, partnering with municipalities, local organizations, communities, and artists to promote artistic excellence and social engagement. In her role as Public Art Supervisor for Santa Monica Cultural Affairs, she played a pivotal role in guiding the City’s Percent for Art (PFA) program and overseeing public art collections. Prior to that, she managed the City of Boston’s public art collections, where she was instrumental in significant projects, including the Dear Boston exhibition and the development of the Dr. Martin Luther and Coretta Scott King Memorial. Chris is a passionate advocate for cultural equity, and her leadership in this area is reflected in her contributions to key policy initiatives, such as the Boston Art Commission’s Collection Policy, Santa Monica’s Artist Roster program, and Americans for the Arts’ Cultural Equity in Public Art Field paper. Throughout her career, Chris has established herself as a dynamic leader, collaborator, and advocate, dedicated to advancing diversity and inclusivity in the arts.
